HOUSING
There is a huge housing deficit in the world today. Here are some quick facts:
- The annual production of housing needs to be 2.5 times greater than it currently is to eliminate the housing deficit
- There are over 100 million people worldwide who live in slums
- Five years after hurricane Mitch struck Central America, 300,000 people are still living in tents
- Guatemala, for example, has 600,000 squatters, India has over 13 million
- After major earthquakes, houses are replaced with exactly the same kinds of unsafe structures
- The shortage is growing every day, housing remains unattainable for a large segment of the population
There are solutions to this problem, however. New technology is required that is: faster to construct, more energy efficient, more environmentally friendly, and healthier. Our new approach to home construction uses: mobile manufacturing, stronger and safer materials, and can be mass produced.
